Chapter 6

6:1. “…the Lamb opened one of the seven seals….”

“The Apocalypse of Weeks,” (Enoch Chapters XCIII, XCI.12-17, pp. 132-4) gives a list of what will happen to the ‘children of righteousness’ and ‘the elect of the world’ from Enoch’s day through the coming of Jesus.  Enoch is said to have known these things from a heavenly vision, the word of the angels, and from the ‘heavenly tablets’.  Enoch recounts these things from ‘the books’.

My interpretation of the seven weeks of Enoch, (xciii) are: (1)Enoch, Gen. 5:19-24; Jude 14; (2) Noah, Gen. 5:28; 8:21-22; 9:1-17; (3) Abraham; (4) Moses; (5) David’s Dynasty, Solomon’s Temple; (6) national apostasy through worldly kings, Babylonian destruction and captivity; (7) rabbinic Judaism, up to the time of Jesus.

The last three weeks, (XCI. 12-17), are distinct from the first seven.  I believe these refer to the Christian era up to the destruction of Jerusalem and establishment of the New Jerusalem, the Church and the Great White Throne judgment.  See 2:16; 14:6, 14, 20; 15:1-5; 19;21; 20; 21; 22.

6:9-11. ‘Blood vengeance’

(Enoch XXII.7, p. 48).  “And he answered me saying: ‘This is the spirit which went forth from Abel, whom his brother Cain slew, and he makes his suit against him till his seed is destroyed from the face of the earth, and his seed is annihilated from amongst the seed of men.”

(Enoch XLVII.1-2, p. 65).  “1. And in those days shall have ascended the prayer of the righteous.  And the blood of the righteous from the earth before the Lord of Spirits.  2. In those days the holy ones who dwell above in the heavens Shall unite with one voice And supplicate and pray and praise, and give thanks and bless the name of the Lord of Spirits On behalf of the blood of the righteous which has been shed, And that the prayer of the righteous may not be in vain before the Lord of Spirits, That judgement may be done unto them, And that they may not have to suffer for ever.”

6:11: “…that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.”

Enoch XLVII.4. “And the hearts of the holy were filled with joy; Because the number of the righteous had been offered, and the prayer of the righteous had been heard, and the blood of the righteous been required before the Lord of Spirits.”  (p. 65).

Enoch XCVI.8. “Woe to you, ye mighty, Who with might oppress the righteous; For the day of your destruction is coming.”  (p.137).

Enoch XCVII.5: “And in those days the prayer of the righteous shall reach unto the Lord.  And for you the days of your judgement shall come.”  (p. 138).

6:12-15. “…the sun became black…the moon became as blood…the stars of heaven fell…and the heaven departed….”

Enoch CII.2-3: “And all the luminaries shall be affrighted with great fear, And all the earth shall be affrighted and tremble and be alarmed.  And all the angels shall execute their commands And shall seek to hide themselves from the presence of the Great Glory, And the children of earth shall tremble and quake; And ye sinners shall be accursed for ever, And ye shall have no peace.” (p. 146).

6:13. “the stars of heaven fell…as a fig tree…when she is shaken of a mighty wind….”-

Enoch LX. lb: “…In that Parable I saw how a mighty quaking made the heaven of heavens to quake, and the host of the Most High, and the angels, a thousand thousands and ten thousand times ten thousand, were disquieted with a great disquiet.”  (p. 76). [A similar shaking occurs on earth, see Revelation 6:14, because it is time for the Great Day of God’s wrath.]

6:14. “…and every mountain and island were moved out of their places….”

(Enoch I.7. p. 31-2).  “And the high mountains shall be shaken, and the high hills shall be made low, and shall melt like wax before the flame.  And the earth shall be wholly rent in sunder, and all that is upon the earth shall perish, and there shall be a judgement upon all (men).”

6:16-7. “…And said to the mountains and rocks, ’Fall on us….”’

.Enoch XCVII.3. “What will ye do, ye sinners, And whither will ye flee on that day of judgement, When ye hear the voice of the prayer of the righteous?” (p. 138).
