1 Maccabees note on 4:52-59: “Judas set the rededication of the temple exactly three years after its pollution …and three and a half years after Antiochus’ capture of Jerusalem….”  (OAA p. 231).  See also 13:5 below.

11:7. “Beast …shall overcome and kill them”

2 Maccabees 5:6: “But Jason kept relentlessly slaughtering his fellow citizens, not realizing that success at the cost of one’s kindred is the greatest misfortune….”

11:8. “And their dead bodies shall lie in the streets of the great city….”

1 Maccabees 7:17: “‘The flesh of thy saints and their blood they poured out round about Jerusalem, and there was none to bury them.'”  Note 17: “Ps. 79.2-3.  All ancients regarded an unburied dead body with horror, and to leave foes unburied was the ultimate outrage.”  (OAA p. 238).
