Chapter 7:3, 9, 13.

7:3. “Sealed Servants”

2 Esdras 2:38-39: “Rise and stand, and see at the feast of the Lord the number of those who have been sealed.  Those who have departed from the shadow of this age have received glorious garments from the Lord.”

   “Sealed”

2 Esdras 10:23: “And what is more than all, the seal of Zion–for she has now lost the seal of her glory, and has been given over into the hands of those that hate us.”  Note 23: “The seal of a nation is symbolic of its independence.”  (OAA, p. 48).

7:9. “…a multitude which no man could number…”

2 Esdras 2:42-45: “I, Ezra, saw on Mount Zion a great multitude, which I could not number, and they all were praising the Lord with songs….These are they who have put off mortal clothing and have put on the immortal, and they have confessed the name of God; now they are being crowned, and receive palms.”

   “…an innumerable multitude”

2 Esdras 13:33-34:  “And when all the nations hear his voice, every man shall leave his own land and the warfare that they have against one another; and an innumerable multitude shall be gathered together, as you saw, desiring to come and conquer him.”  (See 14:1 below for further quote from this passage.)

7:13. “…What are these?….”

2 Esdras 2:44: “Then I asked an angel, ‘Who are these, my lord?'”  (See 7:9, 14)
