THE HOLOCAUST

The word ‘holocaust’ in Hebrew originally meant “A great slaughter of burnt offerings.” [Strong’s #5930. Akin to #5766 with the implication of ‘unjust’ or ‘wicked.’]

Lessons From History

To understand what is now being called “The Holocaust,” we need to understand the history of Hitler’s awful wars, that triggered World War II, and the horrible destruction and slaughters he committed throughout Europe and even up into Russia. He not only killed Jews, but created the wars that also killed more than 50 million people worldwide, including my only brother and many multitudes of other innocent people. He justified his actions by claiming that the ‘Aryan’ race was superior to all others; in other words “the chosen people.”

There have been many “wicked, unjust great slaughters” since the days of Hitler’s Germany. For example, the slaughter of innocent Palestinians in Deir Yassin, Gaza, the Sabra and Shatila Refugee Camps, just to name a few. These too, were “holocausts,” unjust slaughter of innocent victims, again justifying their actions by claiming to be the “Chosen People,” and this slaughter is still continuing daily by denying the Palestinians the right to the basic necessities of life. Our wars are also the cause of the millions of other refugees who have been killed and bombed out of their homes.

We need also to remember that our own US of A has committed ‘holocausts,’ for example the slaughter and robbery of the Indian tribes as the pioneers went throughout the West, proclaiming “manifest destiny,” and using their superior weaponry, [the Remington rifle], to destroy multitudes of innocent Indian victims. [The doctrine of “manifest destiny” meant that they were doing “God’s will.”]

We Are Making History Now

Understanding history should teach us how to avoid making the same mistakes. “He who disregards the lessons of history is bound to repeat them.” And here we are engaged in wars of unjustified legitimacy. Here we are, still waging unjust wars and putting a price on justice that denies it to the poor.

Oh, yes – many tears are being shed for the awful ‘holocaust’ victims that Hitler caused. But our tears will not correct those horrible historical events. No amount of reparation money can atone for those past sins and those who were responsible for those sins are dead and gone to their judgment.

However, this is the here and now; this is where we live and where our responsibilities lie. We are here, now, being called to repent and to stand for justice in our own time and place. This is our day and our responsibility. For this we, too, will face the judgment of God.

Does God Ever Give People Up?

“Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone,” Hosea 4:17.

The northern kingdom’s common name was ‘Israel,’ but was often called ‘Ephraim’ which had become the dominant tribe after their rebellion from Solomon’s son, I Kings 12. The history of that kingdom was of rebellion until God finally gave them up. Although Ephraim was called God’s firstborn, Jeremiah 31:9, 20, God, in anguish cries out: “How shall I give thee up, Ephraim,” Hosea 11:8.

Following the Biblical history, we find that God’s plan to redeem them was to create a New Covenant, which He did in the blood of Christ, Jeremiah 31:31; Matthew 26:27-28. Through this New Covenant, the remnant of Israel could turn back again and be accepted of God. The promises were only to that remnant who accepted Christ’s blood covenant.

“Let them alone:”

Jesus came to the nation of Israel but was rejected by the people through the influence of their leaders, the Pharisees. He had told His disciples: “Every plant which my heavenly Father hath not planted shall be rooted up. Let them alone [the Pharisees] they be blind leaders of the blind and if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch,” Matthew 15:13-14.

But Jesus, too, was wracked with grief for His people who had rejected Him: “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate,” Matthew 23:37-38. And again the New Covenant was offered to “whosoever will,” that would repent and come back to Him.

The Most Dangerous Condition

For those who have known God and yet live in rebellion, God gives them up to a reprobate mind, Romans 1:24; 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12. Hebrews 6:4-6; 10:26-31. This is a most dangerous condition spiritually.

But God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance, 2 Peter 3:9. He rejoices over every soul that comes to repentance, Matthew 18:11-14.

The One True Israel

Are There Two Israels?

The presence of a nation calling itself “Israel” today makes us ask the question: “Are there two “Israels”? According to the Scriptures there is only one true Israel, but there is also a false “Israel,” a pseudo-Israel.

So what happened to the Old Testament ten-nation tribe called “Israel”? We have the prophetic and historical accounts of their demise in the Bible.

The Word of the Prophets

The word was given to the prophets Amos and Hosea:

Hear ye this word which I take up against you, even a lamentation, O house of Israel. The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more rise: she is forsaken upon her land; there is none to raise her up,” Amos 2:1-2.

This was spoken by the prophet Amos in the years prior to 722 BC, the year that Assyria invaded and conquered the ten-tribe nation called “Israel.” For context read the entire book of Amos who further prophesied to that nation at that time, specifically Amos 5:2; 8:2, 14; 9:7-10.

This was also prophesied by Hosea who lived the allegory of God’s judgments against the unfaithful whoredoms of that nation called “Israel.” Read the book of Hosea for the context of the fall of Israel, specifically 1:4, 6, 9-10; 7:16; 8:8; 9:7, 17; 11:5; 13:9, 14, 16.

The historical record of this is found in 2Kings chapter 17. The reason for their fall was:

Because they obeyed not the voice of the Lord their God, but transgressed His Covenant, and all that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded, and would not hear them, nor do them,” 2Kings 18:12.

Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of His sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only,” 2Kings 17:18. Read chapters 17 and 18 of 2Kings.

We are warned in the Book of Revelation against those “who say they are Jews and are not“, (2:9; 3:9).  The laws in the pseudo “Israel” of today as well as their historical and daily practices are the religion of the Pharisees who were anti-Christ, “against-Christ.”  Romans 2:28-29 shows that only those in Christ are truly Jews.

There is now only one true Israel, the Israel of God, the Church, the Body of Christ.
